Joshua Penrose creates objects embedded with dynamic custom software, demonstrating an interest in form, situation, space, and time. The work investigates how technology mediates our cognitive and material experience. Some of the objects move, some emit sound, others present buttons and switches to be pressed. Through these varied constructions, activated and driven by unseen data streams, the work engages with the hidden structures — the systems and codes — that constitute the invisible world around us.
